Ash Scattering San Diego

Ash scattering aboard JADA is a private charter — the entire 65-foot vessel reserved for your family. The crew is experienced with memorial services and the ash-scattering ceremony itself, and the pace of the sail is slower and quieter than a regular charter.

San Diego Bay is the most common scattering location, but if the family wants to scatter offshore, JADA can sail out past the kelp beds or to a specific point in the channel. We follow the EPA Marine Protection, Research, and Sanctuaries Act and the Coast Guard burial-at-sea protocols, which include scattering location requirements, biodegradable container guidance, and notification of the EPA within 30 days of the ceremony — we handle the paperwork.

Many families bring photos, readings, a piece of music. We have a Bluetooth speaker aboard. Some families want a moment of silence on the water before the scattering itself; others want the whole bay loud and lively. Both are right.
